The first 'video paintings' were shot in 2001 by Hilary Lawson, which led to the subsequent formation of the Artscape Project - a collective of artists whose mission it was to explore the medium. It is these same artists whose work comprises 'Unseen'. Using technology developed by the Artscape Project the artists 'video paintings' are played in an ever changing order; the sequence is never repeated.
'Unseen' is a unique collection of 26 videos featuring works by seven artists: Sarah Turner, Alys Williams, Isabelle Inghilleri, Gabrielle Le Bayon, Mark Nelson, Alex Bettler and Hilary Lawson. The 'Unseen' collection of works encourage the viewer to look beyond the apparently obvious and contemplate elements from our everyday surroundings. These details might otherwise be overlooked in our fastpaced culture which is full of highlyedited moving imagery.
The scenes are visually arresting and invite the viewer to pause for a moment and watch as the infinite colours, patterns and shades of the real world develop.
